".... it is out most important to have the pool made totally inaccessible for the child. The child should not be able to access it on his own. General practitioner are best suitable to share this information as prevention."

Common drowning in residential pool
It would be wrong to think that children are drowning accidentally only in natural water basin and lakes. From the coroner's report, studies has shown an horror story like Etienne's is unfortunately the most uncommon with children drowning. The study is also showing us that more than half of drowning accident happens in residential pool.

So it is fair to say that half the drowning accident involving children half of them accident happen in natural water basin and the other half happen in residential pool. The study also shows that residential pool are a danger for all children that are able to move. Because they are way too young to be good swimmers and to understand consequences of entering the pool alone or with no supervision at all. In fact; the majority of drowning accident happen to children between the age of 1 to 4 years old. (19 drowning accident on 22, 86%), thus explaining why this age group is at the top chart of studies and researches about the danger of the water. 2/3 of children drowning happens in residential pools, in the family pool. In most of the cases it was the responsibility of the parents to supervised their children, in 79% of all cases. In most of those cases two major explanations come to play ; Leaving for a few minutes supervision of the child and second reason is not to have any apparels to provide proper security to enable the child to access the pool. For a young child between the age of 1 and 4, accessing the pool is easy because they can fit through little hiding doors climbing a pool steps or access is easy with an unlock door easier when the door is open. Most and harder reality of all it is that drowning occurs in a few minutes when no one is looking.

If Etienne's family members would of been better informed on how drowning can happen, his life could of been spared.

Submersion time
An American study young people from 20 years old and less to seek anyone that experienced submersion in time wise, while, it is a perfect indicator for damage and to predict any prognosis. The study shows not only the damage but the consequences long term on the neurological system. It was interesting to know that a submersion less than 9 to 6 minutes has a severe prognosis actually (6) time over than the one who experienced submersion in 6 minutes or less. This is another great reason why we should supervised closely the children when they swim or play near the pool or in any other water basin.
